the Highway SR434 Trailway bridge
evicts the last of the Winter Springs Eagles !

say "Good-bye" to your last winter springs bald eagles !
the eagles are gone -- the city's construction drove them away !
![]()
the commission's goal has been accomplished ---
walk the trail to the City's "TINY TOWN " -- from where ?
Plans -- as taken from various Commission meetings.
State and Federal regulations say the City may develop the land around the eagle's nest to a parameter of 700 feet.
The plan for the trail extension through "Tiny Town" calls for the trail to go right through the nesting area of the current residing bald eagles.
As long as the eagles are present within the area, development must halt. If the eagles, once having left the nest, do NOT return within six months, then the nesting areas may be destroyed.
The City of Winter Springs has every intention to build up to the nesting area, with their heavy equipment, to the outer parameter as allowed by law.
However, there is no provision which sets the guidelines of what the City may do outside that 700 foot circle while the eagles are away.
Knowing the City of Winter Springs' Commission/Managements' aggressive developing, one could almost assume they will go to ALL extremes to make any return of the eagles impossible.
There is no noise abatement required outside the parameter, nor building restrictions, to our knowledge, limiting their aggressive developing.
The City, once known for wildlife, will now become the City of the "McLemore/Commission City of macadam and concrete".
Tree City USA shall fall with the eagle's nest !
One Commissioner has another approach. He says the eagle's nesting tree might have pine-bore worms. Why doesn't the City spray it ?
Then, there's a very astute observation from another Commissioner, when she says the construction noise will probably drive the eagles away from the nest anyway. |
Real thoughtful people ---
these Winter Springs Commissioners --- as led by City Manager McLemore !
Maybe the public should remove all the forest and greenery, within 700 feet, from around the homes of the City of Winter Springs' Commissioners and City Manager. Maybe, with any luck, they wouldn't want to return home either ! There could be just one big yellow circle painted, as far as the eye could see, from around their 700 foot home parameter.
PUBLISHER'S NOTE *
It would have the same effect and total disregard of their habitat, such as that they plan to thrust upon the eagle population of the City of Winter Springs.
