Another political move has also been made with the appointment of ex-commissioner Ed Martinez to the Planning and Zoning Board. This is to strengthen the cities dictatorial hold on that board's decisions to favor the Mclemore led faction of higher taxes and preferred zoning for the city's developer friends. This ex-commissioner was in on all of the current problems of the city. What is so puzzling is his criticism today at meetings of what HE DID previously. !
He now spouts of ALL the mistakes of the current commission while failing to say of his involvement. Probably will run for some seat -- now that Gilmore is a dead duck in the political world. When one doesn't represent his district, or the people --- he should resign ! The same can be said about McGinnis, and Miller --- he's NEVER had a full steam of smartness in his head.
Martinez is to replace another board member's resignation due to the overruling of decisions made by the board to the city manager and commission. The whole plan of zoning and planning are completely under the control of the city manager. Has been for years. That's why one can see the sloppy planning now standing as the empty non-revenue bearing of the over building of condos and apartments within the city.

They've gone crazy ---- as led by McLemore!
The City of Casselberry VOTED NO on the same "Fire Tax" issue !
Their governing body has sense --- Winter Springs has the "Three Stooges" !
(Both cities had the same lousy consultants -- Winter Springs paid over $121,000 for their "socialist" figures !)
BULLETIN !
This just in from a Sentinel "Topic" reader in Lady Lake. Pay attention you people of Winter Springs. This is a TRUE story, which could cost the city of Winter Springs millions -- we hope!

This is the same group that advised the City of
Miami to adopt a fire fee - and which now is costing the City tens
of millions owed in refund because the Florida Supreme Court found
the fire fee to be a tax. And, someone ought to check into the
ownership of the consultants - in the Miami example, one of the
attorneys advocating engagement of his firm and the consultants also
turned out to own 25% of the consulting firm doing the studies. So
much for RFP's and other public procedures to ensure objectivity in
making decisions. In the North Lauderdale decision, decided by the
Supreme Court, the taxpayers believed their total tax obligations
would decline when fire was moved from ad valorem to fee. Turned out
they were charged thousands upon thousands more, and then the fees
jumped in excess of their ad valorem taxes
