Not Much "ZIP" --- Just "A" lot of "DOO" & "DAA" !
From an Orlando Sentinel Article.
(See the latest photo opt picture -- getting ready for 2006 elections --- here. )
The failed business in "Tiny Town" was featured in the article below. This is NOT the first business to leave their ill advised opening in the soon to be "sprawl-plagued" rendition of a governments interference into what may have been a practical project. But the Winter Springs commissioners became design engineers with a background in politics ----- aided by their developer buddies in their election.
The Business Featured Below Fell to the City's poor Planning --- NO PARKING !
The Sentinel article of early 2004 came true -- It WAS a "letdown".

Mayor --- Not too much "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah" at this spot unless ----
you're zipping (walking) three miles home with an "empty shopping cart" ---
or --- looking around for someone on SR434 Highway who will STOP and talk ---
or --- zipping on down to City Hall to try to find some more money to fix the problem !
Business Failure Stories !

Also from the same Orlando Sentinel Seminole Section article --

(Remember the second floor on each building is a shell. State parking regulations prevented the City from occupying those facade built second story floors.)
The biggest laugh of all is in the contents below when Commissioner Martinez says -------
"We want visibility from 434 --- We don't want people going in through the back. "
Hey Commissioner --- How come you designed all the parking in the back ---
and, who in the heck is going to stop on SR434 to go WINDOW SHOPPING ?

The crowning blow in the article is when you have a professor at the University of Maryland's National Center for Smart Growth who says ---
"I can't think of any examples that's started with strip mall with commercial uses --- and ultimately became a town center"!
So, it's back to City Hall for the City Manager and HIS Commission on February 23rd, 2004. after eight horrible tax spending years, for more consultants, developments, and your TAX DOLLARS !
You have no one to blame except yourselves ---
You elected them, and they bought a City Manager !
(Caller -- you are right. It is a reflection on the City Manager's control of hiring department heads. What is a better way to control a personal agenda ? Some of his hiring practices have been very questionable --- when the background and the results are known. )
