the misleading document !
this document was available only within city hall -- why ?

questionable salary analysis document presented by the city manager ---
six months late !
The City Commission gave McLemore a raise in 2002 --- why did they make this raise retroactive back to 2001? That cost the taxpayers of the City a couple of hundred thousand dollars.
McLemore has asked the City to compensate him for the losses he suffered in his ICMA Retirement Fund. There are eleven (11) different plans the ICMA offers. Those plans go from a conservative plan up to plans that are for gamblers in fidelity plans in the ICMA retirement pack. Why should the taxpayers pay for McLemore's roll of the dice ?
This document, presented by the City Manager on April 28th, 2003, was dated November 2002. He was told in July 2002 to present his "scheme" to the Commission by that November date. Why did it take six months for him to get up the courage ? Was it because of the dated material he presented ? |
Not only is the document obsolete, but some figures are questionable.
Casselberry has a new City Manager -- figures unknown as of this date.
Sanford has no City Manager. Figures used are old figures.
Altamonte Springs (not on list) salary is $132,274 -- but almost twice the population of Winter Springs.
Winter Park's life insurance is, by contract, at $300,000 (a double indemnity package) of which Winter Park's maximum contribution is $204.92 per month.
Winter Park's retirement plan is based upon dual contributions. City pays NO MORE than 3% of any plan. Winter Park's taxing revenue is far superior, at less population, than that of Winter Springs.
How the Winter Springs City Manager can compare, of which he boasts, Winter Springs with Winter Park is a figment of his imagination. They have twice the revenue with a smaller population. |
city manager McLEMORE failed to reveal that ----
The Apopka comparison is grossly understated in content. The Mayor/CEO only makes $139,193 dollars, but has been there since 1949. So, the retirement figures are more than justified. McLemore has been nowhere for longer than 6 years --- and that's been in Winter Springs ! A two year stint, by McLemore, would have been a long term of office when compared with most of his temporary stops. |
There is a mistake, however, in the above figure of longevity of the Apopka individual. He was defeated in one of his two year elected positions. We are sorry for missing that error.
The comparison to Winter Park is also another grossly overlooked comparison. The current City Manger began his employment as a "meter reader" years ago, and worked his way up. The City Manager of Winter Park wasn't hired as a performing professional. |
The Winter Park City Manager is also one of the most respected managers by his employees. His employee turnover is at a minimum. That can't be said about Winter Springs ! A young, promising former Winter Springs employee is now working for Winter Park, and is highly thought of by all the management.
the winter springs commission doesn't care how they spend your tax money !
It took less than one minute to hand McLemore his pay raise package,
and no discussion --- it was done behind close doors !
