Why did the City Managers and Mayors meet to discuss another road tax referendum just TWO years after the citizens gave them the renewal? Was it because of mismanagement of funds, misuse of funds for designated projects, or need for funds to replace what they spent on projects other than those touted on the referendum ballot?
Try all of the above! That would hold particularly true in Winter Springs. Remember the grant money for SR 434 "Town Walk"? That was spent elsewhere --- like burying cables in an unimproved area of SR 434. How about neighborhood reconstruction? With the exception of repaving a little used section of streets in Tuscawilla, where has any other major reconstruction taken place?
It sure wasn't in Winding Hollow, where the City allowed a developer to construct sub-par streets that are giving way to underground cracks, and crevices due to the poor street base approved by the City. Those haven't ever been touched in six years, yet the TownCenter gets tax money for the developer, and the glorified strip mall's false two story buildings, and construction of new streets.
There's a desperate need for new traffic signals, but the TownCenter gets two million dollars to improve an already constructed intersection. So, the taxpaying citizens get no reconstruction of streets, but the starry-eyed politicians, and City management build new streets in the under-developed TownCenter ---- that has no parking.
The City of Winter Springs has no loyalties, or priorities,
--- just the townCenter !
