see update Commission meeting note below !
Yes, your City Commission, with very narrow minds listening to ONE person, are once again going to address (attack) the pet ordinance of this City. This very ordinance took the Commission two years to pass the first time. The Commission has little regard for the other 32,000 PLUS citizens of the City when it only took public input from ONE person (whom will remain anonymous for lack of credibility) to once again CHANGE the pet restrictions of this City as headed by the City Manager, and Attorney.
Remember now, this is the same body of irresponsible people who have already cost the taxpayers of this City well over $50,000+ to pursue, in the Court System, the collection of a $50.00 dog barking fine --- also brought about by the same busy-body who is now asking them inflict further restrictions. Of course, the City Attorney doesn't mind -- it lines his pockets with your tax dollars from the court procedures.
So, this individual doesn't like dogs! Why doesn't she move to a city that has NO PETS so she can't inflict her personal problem upon the rest of the citizens of this City? It is even reported that the banging on the fence of the dog owner HAS prompted a dog to bark. Is that the necessary evil required for this City to once again spend taxpayers' money on a problem IT CAN'T SOLVE THEMSELVES ? That's absolutely correct --- the Commission can't, or doesn't want to have to make the decision. As one commissioner stated --- "they'll throw us off this dais".
(He's lucky the citizens of Winter Springs don't !)
You see ---- this is a political year! In fact the Commissioner who wanted this brought back before the Commission, didn't even have the guts to do it himself, because he's up for reelection this year. Instead, he got his cohort, who is NOT up for reelection and is one of the 3M's to do it for him by weakly suggesting ---"THERE OUGHT TO BE A WORKSHOP" at the April 12th Commission meeting!
What are we talking about? Commissioner Sally McGennis wants to form a CITIZEN'S COMMITTEE of the Commissions' choice, so the committee can recommend the decision to the Commission This, once again, allows the Commissioners' to wash their hands of even having anything to do with the decision, and to lay the blame elsewhere when the public outcry is loud and clear.
What a bunch of spineless weaklings we have in the 3M's. Commissioner Miller was gutless in bringing up the subject, and Commissioner McGeness had to make it a "WORKSHOP" ! This dirty deed of revising the ordinance must be completed before Miller has to run for RE-ELECTION, because the 3M's voting block could suffer a blow if someone replaces him and/or Commissioner Eddie Martinez Jr(?).
Rest assured though, should Commissioner Miller and Commissioner Martinez chose not to run for reelection, these two ALREADY have their replacements hand-picked for the upcoming election. Ex-Commissioner Gennell did when she ran for mayor and lost. Gennell had hand-picked her friend Sally McGiness to serve on MANY boards for two years, and then run for her vacated seat as Commissioner. The 3M's had to ensure their insipid and damaging agendas, as proposed by City Manager McLemore, far into the future.
People -- GET OUT AND VOTE FOR A CHANGE IN THIS CITY ! If Commissioners Miller & Martinez run for election and lose, then the City Manager would finally be subject to having a legitimate vote on the dais on HIS agendas. Wouldn't that be a good change for the citizens of Winter Springs to have their voices heard instead of the chosen few ?
Isn't it wonderful that even the cherished pets of this City would have a paw, tail, wing, or even a fin in the election process of this City? Yes, FIN would be a correct terminology -- they are trying to limit two of a species, and no more, per household. This writer has a 100 gallon aquarium with seven large, and older fish, in his home. Will he have to take five (5) of these fish and flush them down the toilet to comply with the NEW pet ordinance as proposed?
How about this for an idea? Since the dais contains pets of the City Manager -- can the citizens require him to flush THREE down the toilet ? This City could CERTAINLY operate with TWO Commissioners --- that would be 3/5's less of a chance of maintaining the monstrous mistakes by the five currently perched/swimming Commissioners on the City of Winter Springs dais !

Pet owners --- run to City Hall at the next Commission meeting --- speak up during public input --- don't let them stop you --- they WILL try ---
THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN FREEDOM OF SPEECH --
in the Commission chambers !
(Unless it's their own --- and boy can the Commissioners go ON & ON & ON.)
+Note: According to the Orlando Sentinel, McGiness's "Workshop" proposal only took THREE hours to discuss. It would seem the "pet workshop" needed is ----
"How to Muzzle a Commissioner"!
