city  of  winter  springs

no  friend  of  lake  Jesup

the overextension of the city's water resources by excessive annexations is now having an effect of the current way of life, and pocketbooks of the citizens of winter springs.

Under the disguise of caring about Lake Jesup, the Commission/Management have established another smoke screen called the "Boat Dock Ordinance".

( They are really promoting this scam.     A "special consultant" was hired to clarify how a boat dock should be built, and the effects of the lakes water purity.    Guess nobody in the City is qualified to instruct people on how to build a boat dock.    How can the City inspect it for "code violations" ? )

That would affect the very few property owners to the east of Central Winds Park, while to the west, the City will erect a reclamation water pumping station.     This is to feed the needs of irrigation, now required by the expanding development complexes, and is needed to bail out the financial woes of the City, and the merchants entrenched in "Tiny Town"..

This information is now being forwarded to various State agencies, who not only are responsible for the control and protection of the environment, but also hand out "grants" in the name of recreation.     How many times have you seen crowing by City officials, in the tax-paid literature called the "INSIDER", about certain grants received to expand the Central Winds Park grounds?      All of this expansion is to the west, and will culminate on the west boundary of Central Winds Park, with the "water reclamation pumping station".     City fathers think citizens are stupid ------

"GRANTS  REQUIRE  MATCHING  OR  MORE  OF  YOUR  CITY  TAX  FUNDS"

The proposed pumping station and points west are currently under development, which leaves no way to access the "pumping station" unless the City builds an access road.     This is to be constructed under the pretext of being an exit of Central Winds Park ---- without a traffic light to aid the traffic.    What a deception ---- the City just spent over $100,000 dollars improving the intersection light into Central Winds Park, and the undeveloped  Centex Heritage Park multi-housing development.

How about that ------ you Winding Hollow people?    It took over  SIX YEARS to get a traffic light into your already developed complex.     But the Heritage Park development --- not yet built, will have a "brand new" traffic signal light when they open.    Aren't the current City fathers good to the "new" developers ?

The City is lacking the responsibility of being a good guardian of Lake Jesup, and can be eliminated  as a partner with the "Friends of Lake Jessup".   They have decimated the Lake's shores by their development/annexations affecting the vegetation and forests needed for protection of the Lake.     Taking any reliable position with current neighbors is not a strong point of the current Commission, as led by City Manager McLemore.    Their easternmost annexation and development belies the claim of not over-developing in the City by the McLemore-controlled  Commission.

consider the below  --- ask yourself --

where's all this going ---- why do we need all this expansion --- we've been doing fine without tearing up our natural lands for years  ----  who gave this city commission and Management the right to destroy  the land we bought into ---- ??????

Citizens need to ask, "Since when is the City of Winter Springs the sole owner of Lake Jesup?"   It is a fact that other governments and private citizens own properties along the lake.   The value of these properties rely on the health and vitality of the lake.

The second question citizens need to ask, "Since when does the City of Winter Springs have the sole right to pump out water from the Lake as a source of reclaimed water for its entire city population?"   One would think the City's right to pump water for irrigation stops with the Wincey property where the pumping station is proposed to be located.     Pumping water from the lake to supply all properties within City Limits is stretching riparian rights to the outer limits.

The third question citizens need to ask, "Why does the City of Winter Springs want  to lay claim to all the water in Lake Jesup?"    Winter Springs needs the water from Lake Jesup to meet the City Manager's and Commission's hungry development goals and needs.     Of course, sole claim to the lake will be dropped the minute the City is cited by the DEP  ( Dept. of Environmental Protection ) for threatening Lake Jesup's health and vitality, due to the City's aggressive pumping of water from the lake.    The City will surely try to name other governments or property owners as responsible for the disaster, versus taking sole responsibility itself.

some people are questioning governmental powers and decisions  --
