KNOW   WHAT   YOU'RE   DOING ---

BEFORE   DOING   IT !

From the Seminole Chronicle

The below article/editorial, as written in the above publication, is why people shouldn't trust the news media in anything other than publishing the figures given to them by the County of political voting results.   The below is nothing but a sham, and the partisan reporting by a reporter still wet behind his ears.   But this is the same cub reporter who will partake in an $68.00 chicken dinner, at the Tuscawilla Country Club, when invited by his "rat pack" compatriots of the Winter Springs Government.

The segment of the Highlands Club House incident is PURELY the figment of not only the distrust-worthy verbiage of those involved, Miller/Martinez/Smith, but also of a reporter who wasn't even PRESENT at the function.   He must have been star gazing through his magic ball.   The real "bump" in the article below is the "lump" on the head of the definition of the word "JOURNALISTS"!

When a journalist has to rely on the hearsay, lies, hot-air-rhetoric, and ignorance of the news bearer to formulate a news article for publication, that places that individual at the public opinion level of a politician ---- almost lower than dirt!   Corrections were never made to offset such blatant errors in the reporting of the Chronicle, and apologies should be in order from the management of such shoddy escapades by members of their business.    That would be Knight Newspapers -- the publisher.

Little  bump  portends  a  rocky  season  ahead

July 07, 2006

Being choosy in politics isn't the norm - take for example the sorts of friends state and national-level politicians are OK with making: lawyers, defense contractors, slash-and-burn developers and oil company lobbyists.

To make a bold, blanket statement that might just incite a letter or two: these folks are almost all inherently against the will of the people.   (So isn't your newspaper -- you cow down to government officials.)

So why be friends with them?  (Why are you?   Who said you were a friend?)

They have a lot of money to throw around, and as anyone with a mind worth its weight in gasoline these days will tell you, money buys influence, and money buys elections.   (The -- current politicians -- must have bought yours from the reporting of your paper, and the opinion letters inserted.   Get a life -- report FACTS!)

Expect to see it again this year, perhaps not at the county level, where Brenda Carey broke records by spending a quarter-million dollars on a campaign for a job that pays about $70,000 a year.   She has some powerful friends, to say the least.  (The Winter Springs Bush camp were big contributors.  Blake' doing the same as Carey.)

Take also the campaign of Jim Greer in Oviedo - and by the way, he's up for election this year, so get ready to see the money fly - he spent more than $20,000 last go-round, and is looking to beat that this time around, if given enough of a challenge by soft-spoken, unassuming Steve Schenck.

Well, some folks aren't choosy, but those folks aren't David Mize, or at least they're not involved in his campaign to be mayor of Winter Springs.  (How would you know --- you weren't there?)

At the man's kickoff event, meant to give a boost to his campaign, a couple of well-known, politically astute (???) fellows were told to go home before they made it through the door.    Both City Commissioner Robert Miller and former commissioner Ed Martinez were asked to leave under suspicion that they were there to crash the party, rather than to schmooze and observe.   (That isn't why they said they were there -- oh you wouldn't know -- you weren't either!   You took those "astute" (what-a-laugh) fellows for their word.    Ignorance does play a part here!)

An unassuming but politically-minded woman made enemies with a woman a few years back based on neighborhood politics, and ended up having it haunt her at the same event in the Highlands.    She said she got booted by Mize campaign volunteer Helga Schwarz for being a spy  (I'd sue you for that print!).    Odds are, it was just a bit of political payback.    (That Smith is a liar also, but how would you know --- you weren't there!)

People say no publicity is bad publicity.    Hopefully that's the case here, because Mize needs all the help getting name recognition he can in a race against a guy who shares his name with the president, and has been mayor in a previous term as well.  (Bush couldn't come close to the President --- the President is HONEST !)

He's getting his name spread around a bit now, after indirectly rejecting two men who do a lot of talking in town, and know a lot of people of influence.   Such is the fate of a political novice, though, to make the sorts of blunders you don't see in savvier campaigns, ones which no doubt also have far more financial backing, and friends that most people wouldn't care to have.  (Why don't you write a story about Blake returning City Manger McLemore's $1,000 campaign contributions.    With your imagination --- you ought to be able to manage that!)

It's heartening to see that there are healthy political races in Winter Springs this year, with two challenges at least, and Commissioner Sally McGinnis still without a rival.    In Winter Springs in 2004, both Miller and Commissioner Joanne Krebs, who was a regular citizen at the time, had no challengers.  (Define a "regular citizen".   Do they walk and talk, or what is the defining characteristic of "regular"?)

In Oviedo there's just one candidate facing no opposition at the moment, Dominic Persampiere - and it's rumored there was a bit of behind-the-scenes maneuvering to see that he didn't get a challenge from a long-time rival.    Whether he'll ultimately face a rival this year is still unknown, with the qualifying period for Oviedo elections still not past.  (Print the "behind-the-scenes"  -- what's the matter -- no guts?)

For the sake of those who wish to start campaigns, though, please follow a few simple guidelines to avoid unnecessary pitfalls. Don't hold an open house and reject present city or county leaders.    That can't work out well.

(Once again you're making reference to "open house".  What is the definition of invitation only -- do you know?)

Do talk to the people - face to face, and door to door.    And please, don't make friends with people for money.   (That's what those three dumbos said they wanted to do --- donate money --- get real.)   It may make sense now, but when you're retired and just plain tired, you may wish you still had your integrity.    (He's got more integrity than all three of those idiots -- together.)   Who in the area has sold out is another matter, but everyone's got their guess, and campaign finance reports usually don't lie.   (How would you know -- you didn't read it?)

It will be a season of blunders, by novices and pros alike -

and the Chronicle will  NOT be there to report on it.
