gator    hunting

at   city   hall !

presenting  the  " Tiny - Town - Run-Off-Storm-Water "  new  reptile  habitat !

update

As of June 9th, the rumor is the City is going to remove "Ronnie-the-Gator".

"Ronnie"  was here long before they intruded into his habitat.

Call City Hall ----  tell them to leave "Ronnie" alone !

   "Ronnie - the - reptile" !

in  winter  springs'  own  "alligator  alley" !

The yellow circle above and below is the location of this gator.   For a closer look see the insert further down this page.    Is this a stray gator lost in the maze of storm water run-off system from the high school, the parking lots of "Tiny Town" &  City Hall ?     How many more gators are lurking in the murky waters of this man-made gator heaven ?     Time will tell !

By the way, why ARE these waters murky ?     Where is Storm Water Management ?

In the below picture, the red circles, in the lower left, is where the alligator was sunning,    When the reptile was approached, it scurried into the water.   The ripples on the surface are from the alligator's diving down into the depths.     It took some time for it to reappear from the darkness of the water to the surface.    The gator remained in that position in the pond.    Of course, this is close to Lake Jessup -- the most infested gator, and polluted lake in the State.

As seen from the size of the alligator in the yellow circle, this is not just a small gator.    When first seen sunning on the cement ramp leading down into the murky waters of this retention pond, the estimated size of the gator would have been about five feet in length.

This is rather a large size gator to be so close to a well-traveled and populated area only no more than thirty feet away.    The wall of this retention (?) pond is actually parallel to the parking lot at City Hall.    This deep man-made retention pond holds the runoff waters from the roadway at the high school, City Hall parking, and to the parking lots of "Tiny Town".

Visit one of the better designed ponds in Winter Springs.    The retention pond behind City Hall is gradually becoming filled with more run-off waters ------ causing the rapid growth of algae to accumulate.     That body of water was established, and approved by the City utilities department!

This body of water, designed, and approved by the City of Winter Springs, is in a former well wooded section of town.    This pond is maintained as a storm water runoff storage facility for the asphalted "Tiny Town" center using your tax money.     The bottom water level is lower than the shores of Lake Jesup.    Will this sewerage storage water facility seep into the aquifer ?

The above retention pond isn't even a year old ----- look at the algae growth.     The maintenance of this water storage area behind, and right at City Hall is going to be enormous to prevent City Hall from becoming a health hazard --- not that it isn't already !

From the looks the City can't even take care of it now  ------- WHY ??
