Emails On the City's New Fire Service Tax !
( With passage of Amendment #1 all bets are off the board. Local governments -- County & City -- will increase THEIR millage rates, and ALL "service taxes" will rise to new heights! Winter Springs, Florida is a prime example of a GREEDY GOVERNMENT ! )
We will publish all emails that we receive concerning this futuristic taxing attempt blunder by the City Of Winter Springs. However --- two of them we will not publish due to the profanities inserted. If you wish to have them published -- clean them up, and we'll see if they are suitable. All emails CANNOT contain any profanities. Pictures can be included if you desire.
Just hit the PFGG logo at the bottom of the page to submit your opinions on this outlandish attempt by the city government and management to continue their foolish spending habits. Just look around the city at the so called city *manqué of stupidity and realize -- that was money ILL SPENT !
* A "village walk" with nowhere to go that has bus seats for a street that has no buses along with a gazebo that has no roof to protect a person from the elements. Now -- that is blatant STUPIDITY !

I have just three questions for the "Dais Darlings" .
1. What do they think they are doing voting on a measure without all the figures ?
2. Why are they voting on a measure to adjust for something that hasn't happened ?
3. Where is the list of things they are going to cut back on beside screwing with the fire department ?
I'll answer the first - "Because the Mayor and McLemore didn't want anyone to see those figures".
PUBLISHER'S NOTE:
After listening to the 01/17/2008 audio they're even going further.
Even McGinnis made another stupid statement when she said "I had a meeting with
some people in Altamonte Springs, and they told me the costs were one of the
reasons they consolidated with the County." That was
DUMB -- the
REAL reason was both the County &
Altamonte were going to have to build another fire station, and they were both
in the same area close together. So they
SAVED their city's citizens
MILLIONS by not having to build
and equip a brand new station. McGinnis -- stop telling lies!
The reason was
published
in the Orlando Sentinel. McGinnis better learn how to read a
newspaper ----- before opening mouth!

If that "media" person is truly a media writer, or whatever why don't they investigate that winter springs diabolical further? The whole issue would seem to be completely out of order should the voters knock out that PROPERTY TAX AMENDMENT. What would make the whole rotten issue useless is that the PROPERTY TAX AMENDMENT would come into effect in 2009. The city of winter springs wants to pass that fire tax before anything even happens. Have you ever seen a tax in this city rescinded after it gets in the book? IT'S a HOAX.

I am im what you may call in a media position. Why don't your reporters dig in and get the facts behind what your readers, and your website are exploiting in a somewhat of a loose way. Give the people figures and facts. Are any of the figures so quoted in your, and your readers responses documented? If so, throw them up for everyone to read with documented charts -- spread sheets -- or whatever. I will then draw my conclusion as to what is being exposed as to what you call a tax to evaluate. I am sure that would not be a problem with some of what I am reading. Winter Springs looks as a city that should be covered more in detail.
Name withheld and media source -- I like my job.
* Publisher's note: Can't agree any more with in your observation. However, please be aware that OUR reporting is, or shall be documented. Most of what PFGG has written is documented, but we are in the process of seeking more documentation from the City of Winter Springs -- should we be so lucky. This writer knows exactly what documents he is going to pursue. They are NOW public documents, and we will see how much the city cooperates. The City Clerk's office has ALWAYS produced our requests.

What's the matter with the citizens of Winter Springs? Don't they know a con-job when they see it? They deserve what they are getting .... HIGHER TAXES. When do they start to realizing they are being taken to the cleaners. If that idiot deal hits my city -- I'll at least have the guts to oppose it. That Ligthart guy in the newspaper was right, and commissioner Krebs saw through the SCAM!

How can the commissioners call that fee anything but a TAX. What do we have running this city ..... complete incompetents? The state hasn't even passed that property tax deal yet, but those city clowns want to get their tax on the books before even anything happens on a state level. The city of Winter Springs has NEVER rescinded a tax they passed. Look what happen to us in Tuscawilla ... it went from $103.00 to over $159.00 and the end will never come on this ... what was to be a 20 year bond deal ...private property improvement fund. The THOA made out like bandits ... taxpayers are paying for the up keep of their private property. What we have is a bunch of money thieves running this city.
A tuscawilla resident ..please don't reveal my email address.

First, they can call this thing a 'service fee" all the want. it ain't. A fee is what you pay when services are performed. Most of the citizens will never in their lives use the fire service. When the government takes money to support a service which may never be used, then it's a TAX.
Second thing I would like an answer to, is why this thing was ever brought to the commission without all the numbers being in front of them, if Krebs and Brown are correct. The answer is simple, McLemore wanted to conceal the real effect, and the incompetence of the city staff, then with the complicity of that fat slug of a mayor, put the thing on the agenda
Thirdly, they seem to be able to find the money for a gaggle of fountains in the Town Center, with a magnificent view of the trash compactor/loading dock behind Publix, or a little farther down, the drive-though window at Wendy's, but can't fund the fire service.
Withhold my name and address.
