Have the City of Winter Springs Incumbents Reached "Cookie-Crunching-Time"?

            The “insider” antics of Hal Kantor and Allan Keen has been revealed today on the FRONT PAGE of the Orlando Sentinel (see October 11, 2006, “Guetzloe associates feel political heat”).     These two powerful “insiders” have used their political influence UNDER every governmental dais in the tri-county area…including Winter Springs. 

            Now, the evidence is abundantly and crystal clear, that the Keewin Real Property large scale comprehensive plan amendment on the 47.27 acres along Shepard Road was another one of these two “insiders” under the table deals (out of public view) using a cast of characters paid for by “insiders” Allan Keen and Hal Kantor.     The citizens of Winter Springs who objected to the Keewin comprehensive plan amendment to flip the land use on the 47.27 acres to allow 334 townhouses never knew who they were up against.

            How could citizens ever fight the two biggest, deepest-pocketed political insiders that Central Florida has ever seen?     How could they ever fight for what was right for their city when these two “insiders” from out-of-town latched on to the political “insiders” in Winter Springs City Hall?

            PFGG will be further investigating the Keen/Kantor connection and will be more than likely revealing the LARGEST OBSTRUCTION OF CITIZEN PARTICIPATION in government by elected officials that Winter Springs, and perhaps, Central Florida has ever seen.    To date, the “insiders” implicated below have a direct tie to Allan Keen and Hal Kantor as well as Walt Dittmer, the land owner of the 47.27 acres on Shepard Road.

            PFGG has little doubt, based on the political dancing and back spinning by the above named elected and public officials to date, that campaign contributions received by these “insiders” who are elected officials will be hastily returned to the “insiders” Allan Keen and Hal Kantor, who will get to reap GREAT financial gain from the large scale plan amendment on Shepard Road.     Of course the damage control propaganda to citizens will be printed on the pages of the Mayor and City Commissioner’s tax-funded newsletter “The Insider” in quick fashion.       Isn’t it appropriate that the Mayor and the Commission named this tax-funded public newsletter after themselves ?

            PFGG has also learned, through public documents, that the Highlands Homeowners Association has filed an appeal for an administrative hearing in Tallahassee rejecting the Department of Community Affairs’ Notice of Intent that the Keewin Real Property Large-Scale Plan Amendment is in compliance with Winter Springs comprehensive plan.     It was revealed on the public record that the “insiders” listed above and Kantor/Keewin’s firms had worked the large scale plan amendment under the table for TWO YEARS before the public knew about it.

            Then hastily called and orchestrated public hearings became a forum for the “insiders” above to categorically reject any argument that citizens in opposition brought forth, including serious objections raised by the Highlands Homeowners Association.

            Stay tuned as PFGG will reveal over the course of the next few weeks how the “insiders” have abused the public trust, and abused the power of their elected office or their appointed positions with willful and malicious intent.

            Don’t forget, Election Day is right around the corner and that the incumbents in City Hall have laid the foundation for public mistrust and abuse of power in City Hall.    If citizens want OPEN GOVERNMENT in Winter Springs, they need to CLOSE THE DOOR on ALL of the incumbents on November 7^th.      

            Winter Springs’ citizens deserve better, and there are better choices on this year’s ballot to change the leadership in City Hall for the good of all citizens and not the “insiders”.
