round 'em up, mr. mclemore -
head 'em east !
winter springs traverses eastward to Oviedo to acquire land for development to supplement its much needed tax base income !

The story of Winter Springs' aggressive annexation far east of the Greenbelt (SR417) is long. This aggressive move to the eastern boundaries to the City limits of Oviedo has resulted in a two year legal battle of Seminole County & The City of Oviedo - vs - The City of Winter Springs.
The question in that law suit is not only the solicitation of property by the City of Winter Springs, but the question of breaking a JPA (Joint Planning Agency) inter-local agreement by our City administration. It is documented that the City of Winter Springs has approached property owners, asking them to annex into the City. Those actions have prompted the litigation.
The City of Winter Springs, again, is involved in costly litigation, at the expense of the taxpayers, caused by their reckless actions. The City pays batteries of lawyers to defend multiple lawsuits, and the taxpayer winds up on the short end.
The subject matter of this article is not to question the legalities involved, but the use of the land. The pictures below will show the razing of this forested property down to bare earth, with nothing left standing. What is so important that required the destruction of ALL plant life on this project? The answer is obvious --- it's Winter Springs reaching out to increase their tax revenues to offset the City's spending frenzies.
it' s called money !!!
damn the land --- full speed ahead !
The picture below depicts the Western side of the project just off SR434. It shows the stands of trees that lead to the borders of the Black Hammock area, and the lush forested areas razed to the ground. Also shown are the culverts for the sewerage system and water that the City of Winter Springs must extend to this area. Are the taxpayers to pay for water/sewerage expansion to this development? With the manipulations of the current City management and developers ----
WHO KNOWS ?

The next picture below shows the depth of this project. The trees far in the background, at the center of the picture, is the protected shoreline area of Lake Jessup. So this project is vast in size from SR434 right to the environmentally protected shoreline of the lake.

Here are the boundaries of the project with the picture on the left being the western boundary, and the right picture being the eastern boundary. Only a church on the easterly side has prevented the City from annexing further east. The church is satisfied with their present government and utility facilities.

Winter Springs administration/government loves to call our city "Tree City USA". If the rape of our forest lands continues, we may as well be the "concrete jungle".
