Top 10 gaffes by Barack Obama and Joe Biden

Top 10 gaffes by Barack Obama and Joe Biden

Perhaps Barack Obama was just trying to make Joe Biden feel better by dropping his clanger on Jay Leno. Whatever the President was thinking, 60 days into their new administration it's time for a post-election Obama-Biden Top 10, in reverse order:

10.  Just after he's been sworn in by him, the newly-minted Vice President Joe Biden gets the name of Justice John Paul Stephens, "one of the great justices" of the Supreme Court, wrong by calling him "Justice Stewart":

9. Barack Obama jokes about Nancy Reagan having séances in the White House. He later called her to apologise after the AP noted that although she had consulted astrologers, "she did not hold conversations with the dead":

8.  Joe Biden forgets the "website number" for the White House internet site designed to show how TARP money is being spent:

7. Barack Obama mixes up the windows and doors at his new home:

6. Joe Biden jokes about Chief Justice John Roberts fluffing the inauguration oath. The president is visibly annoyed with his veep and Biden later apologises:

 5. A Marine One double. First, on his maiden Marine One trip Obama breaches protocol and makes life uncomfortable for an enlisted marine by shaking the serviceman's hand as he's saluting his commander-in-chief:

Then - Gerald Ford, eat your heart out. Barack Obama bangs his head as he boards his helicopter:

4. Joe Biden tells his wife that he had the choice of being either Secretary of State or vice-president - an offer that was news to Obama aides and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when Jill Biden spilled the beans on Oprah:

3. Gordon Brown presents the new President with: a pen holder carved from the timbers of HMS Gannett, a sister ship of HMS Resolute; the commissioning certificate of HMS Resolute; and a seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill. In return, the Prime minister gets 25 DVDS, which don't work in Britain:

2. Joe Biden tells a former Senate colleague who addresses him as "Mr Vice-President" to "give me a f---ing break":

1. The latest one takes the biscuit. Barack Obama jokes about the disabled on the Jay Leno show. Afterwards, he calls the head of the Special Olympics to apologise:

NB I've only included gaffes committed since the presidential election on November 4th. In October, I did this blog on the top dozen campaign gaffes, which features several from Obama and Biden.

That second video, showing the Dow at 8800, made me long for the days before Obama's real gaffes--his policies--were unveiled.

What kind of monster mocks the handicapped?

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised by this gauche and downright cruel comment- no different than his classless cheap-shot on 90-yr-old Nancy Reagan in his first presser.

Trouble is that the REAL Barack tends to leak-out when he's not hard-wired to a TelePrompTer-

Narcissists are often callous- and even ruthless. They tend to lack empathy and/or a conscience. This is evident in Obama's lack of interest in his own half-brother who lives in poverty in Kenya, or his aunt found living in public housing in Boston.

Obama's almost certainly a pathological narcissist... the most dangerous charismatic leaders are, comes from an insecure childhood (like Barack's).

Indicators include control freakery, grandiose self-importance, feeling "above the law", interpersonally exploitive, inability to handle criticism, lack of empathy, arrogant behavior, surrounds himself with sycophants... sound familiar?

Obama is a mess- and his insecurities, bad childhood, and irresponsible, far-left-wierdo mother are now all OUR problem, too-

Isn't it amazing how Obama brought down the economy almost two years before he was President?

Anybody notice how Toby had to artifically inflate the Obama numbers by including in Joe Biden?

Your attempt to perpetuate the Tonight Show item by re-wrting your previous blog is kinda transparent, Toby.

It's just like the Telegraph bloggers endlessly re-working the numerous 'Obama hates Britain' blogs from the other week.

There are any number of important things one could take issue with President Obama about. Your blogging covers none of them.

Yeah Steve, I noticed - I even put "by Barack Obama and Joe Biden" in the headline. Pathetic attempt at subterfuge, I concede.

I didn't say it was subtle. It is a blatant attempt to draw out the daily talking point against Obama.

Our president is a dreadful cur, and Special Olympics comment further illustrates it. The more he puts himself in front of the public, the more the public will know that he has the maturity of an adolescent. Check National Institute of Health studies on youthful drug abuse. After reading some of the studies, I have become convinced that our president honestly doesn't know, and can't control his immature statements.

To be fair to Mr. Biden, you did spell the Supreme Court Justice's name wrong. It is John Paul Stevens.

What an insult to our closest family member country that we can ALWAYS count on.

I apologize to our incredible British brothers.

Don't forget when Obama visited the John Deere folks in his home state a few weeks ago he stated they would be hiring folks back as soon as the stimulus bill hit. The stimulus bill hit and John Deere just laid off more than 2,000. What a killjoy huh?

maybe the dvd's wasn't a gaffe.

maybe it was a response to that very weird, meandering, racially-obsessed, lenghty "memo" that your ambassador sent during the late stage of the election campaign ...

that strange missive seemed to me far more undiplomatic than the dvd thing ...

this list doesn't include my personal favorite: reading the Irish PM's speech off the teleprompter and thanking himself for an invitation to the St. Patty's Day party at the White House.
If Bush had committed one of these, we would see it on the front page of the New York Times and read about it in Frank Rich's and Maureen Dowd's columns for months. As it is, they have been quiet

SteveGnyc, you're right on the date: the economy started to sputter two years ago...right when the Democrats took over the control of Congress (a fact that the American media absolutely is loathe to comment on in connection with our current troubles). And yes...Obama was part of that Democratically-controlled Congress, as a Senator (when he found the time to show up -- 147 days to be exact).

You forgot the time that Biden asked the guy in the wheel in WV to stand up.

What is it with this pair and people with disabilities?

Toby, we cannot forget that big dummy Joe "Plugs" Biden stating in an interview last fall that when the US stock market crashed in 1929, President Roosevelt went on television to calm the American people. Of course, Roosevelt was not president in 1929 nor was television invented yet, but why would Plugs let facts get in his way?

Has anyone else noticed that this link is hidden deep in the telegraph?

I assume most found this link through drudgereport and not just surfing the telegraph?

Toby: why do you let them treat you like this?

Excuse me but this very newspaper ran the story correctly, indicating that Prez Obama tried to take the heat off the Irish PM's mistake by making the same minor 'error' himself.

What's the matter, don't you read The Daily Telegraph?

What kind of a stooge gives the British PM, a man who is almost blind, DVD's for a state gift? They weren't even the proper region coding for the PM to watch them. He is an embarrassment to the country. He is SO in love with himself.

I'm glad we have the UK media to report on His Highness here in the states. The media here are not allowed to point out his Holiness' gaffes without being subject to being kicked off Air Farce 1.

That plant was Caterpillar and not Deere, but same idea. 2454 were laid off after the stimulus was passed, and Hussy said they would bring laid-off workers back if it was passed.
