The  Mis-placed Cell Phone 150' Foot Tower !

Why the big change from plans going back to 1997 ?

The city still can't answer the above question, so PFGG will.     As the article below indicates -- back in 1997 it was determined that the cell phone tower, if needed would be placed in Sam Smith Park.    Since the city "dais darlings" have become so reliant on the Tuscawilla Country Club for city functions, and having done away with it's only competitor in the city they've decided to reward the ownership with revenues that normally would be ALL city revenue had the tower been placed as originally laid out.

Also, this will not affect the property value of the city manager's residence with a further away location.   All it does is decrease the property values of the homes that sit adjacent to the country club location -- plus -- guess who gets the leasing income?   It isn't the cash strapped city who says they're going to have to cut some city services (see -- mayor's threatening [letter]).    This project reeks of "political favors payback"!    Just look at ALL the "dais darlings" who benefited from business, developer, and builders campaign contributions.     Even a failed ex-commissioner on his bid for a County position.

It's on the August 13th Monday Night Commission agenda !

The original tower location for the Tuscawilla area was at the water plant behind Sam Smith Park.   That was part of City Manager McLemore's 1997 plan with Primco to put SEVEN towers in the City of Winter Springs.   This writer and others, having reviewed the 1996 FCC regulations passed, proved that number of towers was not necessary.

It was proven that as many as SIX cell phone providers could share a 150 foot tower easily, and thus the tower at City Hall was constructed to provide that service.   It was also proven that the path through Winter Springs, at that time, could be handled with three towers.   Thus the THREE towers erected to serve the area were built on SR419, near the asphalt plant, City Hall, and the SR417/Red Bug Road area.    The City would then receive revenue from ALL providers located on the City Hall tower.    Now a single cell phone provider wants another tower.

So, with the need for yet another tower the City plans to allow the Tuscawilla Country Club to erect a tower right next to the Country Club Village and Arrowhead communities instead of using "public" lands for much needed revenues for the City.   The City Manager, Mayor, City Attorney, and commission all use that golf course as their meeting place, so why not do the land owner a favor?    Why deviate from previous plans?

Should an additional tower be needed in the City why not allow citizens who have to live within sight of it at least be able to receive income from the users, and maybe lower the City's horrendous taxes?   Could it be that there are other compensations beneficial to those who vote in favor of such tower?    That really would not come as much of a shock, since we have reviewed previous "political campaign contributions", and the inclusion of development contributions into the campaign fund coffers is quite obvious.

This NEW location probably has nothing to do with the fact that if the "new" tower was put on the original planned site location (City property) it could be seen by the City Attorney, and the City Manager who NOW live within line sight of the Sam Smith/Waterworks plant's original planned tower site.

Then again City management and "politicians" LOVE LUXURY --- see [ $34.00 Dollar Chicken ] !

Of course honesty has not been one of the virtues of the people in control of City Hall.    All those voting on the "new" tower project use the country club facilities frequently -- whether members or not.    It's their meeting place.    Even the thought of them isolating a favor in place of reality has precedence over logical planning.    All this can be seen by their aggression into areas outside the City using the current taxpayers' tax money.

Remember, one 150' ft. cell tower can accommodate at least six carriers on a single tower so all the additional revenues from that tower would go to "private" land owners.    Surely the frenzy spending City commission, and city manager wouldn't allow this revenue escape their clutches ---- or ---- for PRIVATE means --- WOULD THEY ?
